Good work and good time. How volunteers help the elderly

Participants of the volunteer movement BRSM “Good Heart” from Molodechno joined the action “Good to the elders”, which became part of the Republican youth autumn marathon “Dobro.Bel”. For children, this is an opportunity not only to do good deeds, but also to spend time with benefit.

Every autumn in Molodechno, as in other cities of the country, seasonal fair series open. For residents of urban areas this is a great opportunity to stock up on the cold season of inexpensive vitamin products. Therefore, there are many elderly buyers who are used to form the so-called borsch set for the whole long winter. The issue of delivery of this product from the fair is always especially relevant. When there is no one to help, volunteer support comes at a special price.

In Molodechno, the participants of the “Good Heart” movement come to the rescue: on weekends, the guys work at the Old Place Square, where a fair trade opens.

“We understand that for our wards such assistance is an important and timely support. Therefore, our volunteers are happy to respond to requests and try to make visiting the fair for the elderly more comfortable. Such good deeds remind: to help, you do not always need much – enough attention, responsiveness and desire to be close, said the first secretary of the Molodechno RK NGO “BRSM” Daria Ezerskaya.

Volunteers also have other care addresses – help for lonely elderly people on the farm. So, for example, the guys from Molodechno are regulars at the veteran of labor Sergey Ivanovich Nitskevich. Today, they again visited their countryman, who for health reasons is difficult to cope with economic issues and restored order in the yard, and also harvested in the garden.

“I have a grandmother myself, and I know how difficult it is for her to handle household affairs. Today, they helped the veteran with the garden - harvested the crop, dug up the beds, restored order. It seems to be nothing difficult when there are many of us, and the person is pleasant and real help is provided. It is good that there is an opportunity to do a good deed and spend time with benefit, said BRSM volunteer, 2nd year student Matvey Shastovsky.

As Daria Ezerskaya emphasized, volunteering in the district has become an important part of the life of young people over the past two years.

My kids and I are helping single seniors and veterans who come to us regularly at any time of the year. And our work can be both in cleaning the house area, and in storing firewood and briquettes. Such work for the benefit of others unites young people, teaches kindness, mercy, responsibility. I especially like when the guys during cleaning communicate, laugh, make funny videos, interact with each other, while understanding the benefits and joy they bring to our older generation. In addition, we all get great returns in the form of great gratitude, stories of veterans about their difficult life and the exchange of experience that should always be between people of different generations. During such visits to the elderly, there is always a very warm atmosphere, Daria said.

The marathon of kindness continues, which means that many more coordinates will appear in the list of volunteers, where they left their good trace of helping the elders. The youth of the Mogilev district joined the action “Good to the elders”
