The house of the Zoshchenko family with griffins and horses returned its original appearance
The overhaul of the facade of the historic residential building on the Big Raznochinnaya, 4, is being completed. The building is known as the House with bas-reliefs of griffins or as the house in which the family of the famous writer Zoshchenko moved in 1913. The completion of the work was reported by the press service of Smolny.

The restorers restored the lost rusted plaster, decoration of bay windows, capitals and floral ornament. On the stairwells again appeared wooden windows of pine, and the front entrance was decorated with oak doors.
A distinctive feature of the house - bas-reliefs with griffins and mythological horses hippocampus on the facade. The sculptural images that have survived to this day were carefully restored, and the missing elements were recreated from casts.
The manufacture of new metal gates began, the appearance of which was studied by drawings and old photographs.
