In Dorogobuga municipal district, a large-scale career guidance event was held, organized by representatives of the Smolensk State Medical University (SSMU). About 670 high school students from all over the district gathered at the Cultural Center of Dorogobuzh PJSC, for whom this meeting became an important stage in the conscious choice of future profession.
A feature of the event was the active involvement of not only students, but also their parents in the dialogue, which allowed to create an atmosphere of mutual trust. In an informal setting, families were able to discuss the prospects for higher medical education, ask exciting questions and receive comprehensive information directly from representatives of the university. From the university, the meeting was attended by the director of the Center for Pre-university Training Yanina Nikolaevna Kotelnikova and the head of the MedVolna volunteer center Alexei Maslyany.
The organizers stressed that holding such off-site actions gives schoolchildren the opportunity to practically “try on” a medical specialty and dispel common myths about the excessive complexity of admission. In their opinion, through live communication with teachers and student volunteers, the abstract dream of medicine becomes a concrete and achievable goal for applicants.
Such initiatives testify to the consistent course of SSMU on openness and active interaction with future applicants of the region. Systematic career guidance work not only helps young people find their vocation and connect life with the noble mission of saving human lives, but also contributes to the long-term influx of motivated personnel into the health care system of the Smolensk region. For more information on preparatory programs, interested persons can contact the Center for Pre-University Training of the University by phone or via e-mail specified on the official resources of the university.
