On confidence in the President
First of all, O. Gaidukevich drew attention to the fact that according to sociologists, almost 90% of Belarusian citizens polled trust their President:
- This is a very serious and objective indicator, said O. Gaidukevich. Why am I so confident about this? The reason is that our state, government, their successes and failures in the mass consciousness are primarily associated with the Head of State. Alexander Lukashenko has the greatest authority in the country. It is unlikely that anyone will be able to dispute the fact that Belarus is developing, people are safe and comfortable to live in the country. At the same time, they see what a nightmare and lawlessness are happening today in the world, literally in the neighborhood, comparing their situation. How can the President’s rating be low under these conditions? Belarusians are aware that if there was no Lukashenko, their life could have rolled in a completely different direction, where there would be neither peace nor tranquility.
A staggering figure
Ex-interior officer O. Gaidukevich emotionally appreciated the fact that more than 91% of citizens in the country feel safe:
- Here life itself put everything in its place. Belarusians see and draw conclusions of a certain nature. The globe is burning from all sides. In Europe, about which we were told bedtime fairy tales yesterday, how peaceful, beautiful and perfectly safe it is, crime is off the scale. In Ukraine there is war, in the Middle East there is war. All this is accompanied by violence, crime, murder, robbery. In these circumstances, people begin to appreciate their native Belarus. They understand that their decent life is the merit of the government, the President of the country and other bodies, including law enforcement.
What to say about the VNS
Delegate of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly O. Gaidukevich also commented on the data, according to which the trust in the VNS in society, although growing, has reached 70% so far.
- Despite the fact that the SNC acquired the status of a constitutional body a few years ago, its role in the system of government has yet to be realized. Most people have an understanding, and from my point of view, it is absolutely correct: the successful work of the National Assembly rests on the shoulders of the Head of State, who consolidates the activities of all public associations and political parties in the country. Today, he is the guarantor of the reliable operation of the entire political system. I'll just say it. During meetings around the country, people regularly ask me this question: “If Alexander Lukashenko is not in the People’s Assembly, will it be as effective?” I say, "No.".
At the same time, O. Gaidukevich, during a blitz interview, several times stressed that people have great trust in the authorities, and in the VNS, whose chairman is A. Lukashenko, too.
