Two Permians who rented phone numbers to scammers will go on trial

The investigation of criminal cases against two residents of Perm has been completed. They are accused of 161 crimes qualifying as theft and fraud as part of an organized criminal group, according to the GU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Perm Territory.

It was established that one of the Permians bought GSM gateways and computer equipment for renting telephone numbers in the shadow segment of the Internet. The defendant’s services were used by fraudsters, as he knew. In the future, the accused attracted his acquaintance to illegal activities: he ensured the smooth operation of the equipment, changed SIM cards and controlled a stable connection to the Internet.

As a result of criminal activity of attackers from bank accounts of residents of different regions of the country, more than 81 million rubles were stolen.

Permyakov, born in 1984 and 1985 at the end of 2023, was detained by officers of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Perm Territory together with colleagues from Magnitogorsk and Kazan. During searches in the garage and on the houses of the defendants, more than 12 thousand SIM cards, phones, computers, modems and other items important for the investigation were seized. The criminal case against two Permyaks has 134 volumes.

The indictment was approved, in the near future the materials will be submitted to the court.
