On the Day of National Unity, which is celebrated in Belarus on September 17, the Chairman of the Minsk City Council of Deputies Artem Tsuran met with employees of the sports and health center of the Frunze district. During the meeting, the importance of the state holiday, the work of local self-government bodies, the development of the capital and the contribution of each citizen to the strengthening of the country were discussed. Details - in the material of the correspondent of the agency "Minsk-Novosti".

A holiday that unites generations
Artem Tsuran spoke about the significance of the holiday through history – briefly, on key points.
He recalled how the territory of the republic developed: in the 1920s, two waves of enlargement of the young BSSR took place at the expense of the East Belarusian lands that were temporarily part of the RSFSR. And finally the process of “gathering lands” ended in the autumn of 1939, when in the conditions of the collapse of the Polish state, the liberation campaign of the Red Army took under the protection of the population of Western Belarus.

- The overwhelming majority of Belarusians perceived those events as an act of historical justice - the Red Army was greeted with flowers and bread and salt, the chairman of the Minsk City Council said.
Alexander Tsuran noted that the cohesion of the Belarusian society has repeatedly helped the country to overcome serious trials. The unity of the people, responsible attitude to work and the desire of each person to benefit the Fatherland remain the most important conditions for sustainable development of Belarus.

- Today it is not enough to say that we are for sovereignty, for a strong and prosperous Belarus. There should be a real contribution of every citizen, primarily through conscientious work and high-quality performance of their duties, Tsuran said. This is doubly relevant in the five-year quality plan and is three times relevant in the context of the geopolitical storm we are in.
A deputy is not a position, but work with people
A. Tsuran spoke about how the work of the deputy corps is organized, how issues of life of the capital are considered and decisions are made.

Deputies regularly hold personal receptions of citizens, meet with residents, study appeals and proposals of the population. Such work makes it possible to quickly identify problems on the ground and take into account the views of citizens in decision-making.
In addition, deputies participate in monitoring the work of trade and public transport facilities. In particular, the availability of goods in stores, the quality of service, the condition of retail facilities, compliance with the requirements for the organization of passenger transportation and the operation of transport infrastructure are assessed.

- All this is necessary in order to see an objective picture of the city, to understand what issues require additional attention, and to make decisions that meet the interests of residents, Tsuran said.
The Chairman of the Minsk City Council also explained how the sessions of the City Council of Deputies are held, how issues of the agenda are formed and decisions are made. Separately, he dwelled on the mechanism for implementing civic initiatives, stressing the importance of active participation of residents in the life of the capital.
Minsk in numbers
During the meeting, the staff of the FOC had the opportunity to learn about the key indicators of social and economic development of Minsk.
In particular, it was noted that in January-June 2026, the export of goods from the capital amounted to $ 9.2 billion, the growth rate reached 124.7%. Minsk exports goods to 108 countries and services to 208 countries.

The main foreign trade partners of the capital remain the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China. At the same time, Minsk is increasing its presence in the markets of Africa, Asia and the Middle East, as well as retaining its position in the markets of the European Union.
The domestic consumer market of the capital is also developing. Today, the retail network of Minsk has about 9.8 thousand stores of various formats. There are about 6.9 thousand catering facilities in the city.
These indicators reflect the scale of the urban economy and the daily work of enterprises, organizations and institutions that provide a comfortable life for millions of people.
Modern infrastructure of FOC
After the meeting, A. Tsuran got acquainted with the internal infrastructure of the sports and health center of the Frunze district.

The Chairman of the Minsk City Council was shown the main areas and premises of the complex: the cardio zone of the gym, a multifunctional hall for practicing various types of martial arts, a gym, a sauna, a swimming pool, spa rooms and other rooms.

FOC provides opportunities for physical culture and sports, health promotion and active recreation of residents of the district. The modern infrastructure of the center is aimed at people of different ages and interests - from those who are just starting out to play sports to experienced athletes.

At the end of the meeting, it was noted that the development of urban infrastructure, the availability of sports facilities and the involvement of citizens in public life are important components of the quality of life in the capital.
National Unity Day reminds us that the strength of Belarus lies in unity, mutual responsibility and the ability to work together for a common future. It is from the daily work, indifference and active civic position of each person that the development of the city and the whole country is formed.
