Rostov regional court upheld the sentence of ex-mayor of Volgodonsk Yuri Marinenko

The Rostov regional court upheld the sentence of the former mayor of Volgodonsk Yuri Marinenko. The former official's appeal was rejected on September 22.
Earlier, in August 2026, he was sentenced to five years in a general regime colony and a fine of 700 thousand rubles for fraud with an apartment.
The court decision also provides for the deprivation of Marinenko the rank of police colonel, all departmental awards and the right to hold public office after release. The housing that became the subject of the case was confiscated from him.
According to the materials of the case, back in 2016, being an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the ex-official fabricated documents on family income to obtain a service apartment on Builders Avenue. In March 2024, he became the head of the administration of Volgodonsk, but a year later, in July 2025, resigned, explaining it by personal circumstances. His apartment was searched and detained in December 2025.
