Specialists of the Brest Regional Committee of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection monitored water wells in the Kamenetsky and Maloritsky districts. Details of the study were shared in the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, writes sb.by.

- In the Brest region there are about 4000 water wells. Only for 9 months of 2026, 44 wells that have exhausted their resource and are not subject to further operation were eliminated. The main purpose of the raids was to check compliance on the ground with legislation in the exploitation of subsoil and the use of water resources. A total of 56 water wells were surveyed during the monitoring.
During such inspections, inspectors pay special attention to the measures taken to prevent groundwater pollution, to maintain a strict record of water consumption (whether water flow and volume measurement tools are used), to carry out conservation works of wells that are temporarily or permanently not used.
- According to the monitoring results, violations of the procedure for accounting for extracted groundwater, carrying out works on the conservation of unused water intake wells and unauthorized water use of individual water intake wells were revealed, the ministry informed. Recommendations will be sent to water users to eliminate the identified violations within the established timeframe.
