“It’s a robbery!”: the American saw the prices in Russia and was shocked. But then she explained everything - the final surprised her

Sarah came to Moscow, expecting to see the dangerous streets and low standard of living. However, her impressions of the trip were very different. Most of all, she was surprised by the cleanliness of the city, the Moscow metro and the everyday comfort to which local residents are accustomed, writes the Zen channel “Talking about education”.

A separate impression on Sarah made prices in the supermarket. Seeing cheese for a thousand rubles and received a check for about 7500 rubles, she was outraged and said that in the United States with this money you can buy food for a week. Later, she learned that Russian stores have products of different price categories, and admitted that she did not take into account the difference in the choice of products.

Surprised American and living conditions. Visiting friends, she saw home billets, learned about the tradition of summer holidays and drew attention to the cost of utilities and the Internet. For her, the usual things turned out to be an unusual experience that forced her to take a new look at life in Russia.

Sara also noted the Moscow metro, the availability of taxis and delivery, as well as the interest of citizens in theaters and museums. Many of the things she imagined differently before the trip on the spot turned out to be quite different from what she expected.

At the same time, such impressions remain a personal experience of the traveler and cannot describe the life of the whole country. Russia, like any other state, faces its own difficulties, and living conditions vary markedly depending on the region and family income. But Sarah's trip showed just how much real-life experiences can differ from pre-country perceptions.
