Evgeny Pervyshov headed the Board of Trustees of the Tambov branch of the RGS

The head of the Tambov region Evgeny Pervyshov accepted the proposal of the leadership of the Russian Geographical Society and headed the Board of Trustees of the regional branch. The decision was announced at a meeting in the regional government.

The Council was formed in December 2025, previously headed by Alexander Orionov.

The key projects of the department were discussed at the meeting. Among them - the preparation of the textbook "Geography of the Tambov region" (released in 2026-2027), the work of the youth center of the Russian Geographical Society in the framework of the project "Rediscovering Tambovshchyna" (trips covered 14 districts), as well as plans for 2026-2030: the creation of school clubs of the Russian Geographical Society, profile shifts, an updated atlas of the region and new tourist routes.

The Tambov branch of the Russian Geographical Society was established in 1951, in 2026 it celebrated its 75th anniversary.
