“Torch” suffered a crushing defeat from “Lokomotiv” in Voronezh

Voronezh “Torch” unsuccessfully returned to performances in the Russian Premier League after a pause for matches of national teams. In the home meeting of the 10th round, held on October 10, the team lost to Lokomotiv Moscow with a score of 0: 5.

Before the match, the position of both teams in the standings left much to be desired. "Torch" was in last, 16th place, scoring only three points after nine rounds. The Voronezh team drew three times and lost six times. Lokomotiv was on the 14th line with seven points.

The hosts actively began the meeting and tried to create dangerous moments at the gates of the opponent, but could not realize their attacks. The Moscow team withstood the starting onslaught and gradually seized the initiative. In the 25th minute, Nikolai Titkov opened the scoring with a head blow, and seven minutes later Nikolai Komlichenko doubled the advantage of the guests.

After the break, the situation of Voronezh became even more difficult. Already at the beginning of the second half, Lokomotiv defender Cesar Montes scored the third goal. Later, Egor Pogostnov brought the score to 4:0, and in the 74th minute Komlichenko scored a double, setting the final result - 5:0 in favor of Muscovites.

The crushing defeat further complicated the position of “Torch” in the struggle to preserve a place in the RPL. Before the match, experts estimated the probability of a direct departure of the team at almost 70%. In addition, earlier in the media there were reports about the possible resignation of the head coach Oleg Vasilenko in case of failure in the meeting with Lokomotiv.

The next match Voronezh will be held on the road against Samara “Wings of the Soviets”. The game of the 11th round is scheduled for Saturday, October 17.
