Minsk traffic police introduces enhanced control over compliance with traffic rules by scooters
From 5 to 8 October, Minsk hosts a preventive event of the State Traffic Inspectorate aimed at preventing accidents involving vulnerable road users.

From October 5 to 8, a preventive measure of the State Traffic Inspectorate is being held in Minsk aimed at preventing accidents involving vulnerable road users. Special attention is paid by state traffic inspectors to compliance with traffic rules by pedestrians, cyclists and drivers of personal mobility, writes sb.by.

Deputy Head of the State Administration of Internal Affairs of the Mingorispolkom Denis Livanovich explained that a set of preventive measures is aimed at developing legal awareness among pedestrians and drivers of personal mobility means:
- In the city, cases of road accidents, including those involving minors on personal mobility means, have increased. Inspectors remind this category of road users traffic traffic rules, including the need to hurry. Special attention is paid to minors. Children under 14 years old are prohibited from using personal mobility on the road network. They are allowed to move only in residential areas and yard areas, and on the street-road network are allowed to go only accompanied by legal representatives.

In addition, drivers of personal mobility vehicles are prohibited from carrying passengers, Denis Livanovich reminded. He also added that inspectors will give a special principled assessment to the actions of road users on electric scooters that violate traffic rules in a state of alcoholic intoxication.
As part of the event, inspectors also inform Minsk residents about the main threats to road safety, taking into account seasonal factors, in particular due to reduced daylight hours and deterioration of visibility on the road. For prevention in the evening from 17 to 19 hours, traffic police officers together with other units are on duty at hazardous areas and near pedestrian crossings.
