The general supervisory activities of the Belarusian Prosecutor’s Office are aimed at fulfilling the instructions of the Head of State, ensuring the safety of the population, observing the rights and freedoms of citizens, especially the most vulnerable categories, as well as the economic interests of the state. Speaking about general supervision activities, Dmitry Gora noted its focus on fulfilling the instructions of the Head of State, ensuring the safety of the population, observing the rights and freedoms of citizens, especially the most vulnerable categories, as well as the economic interests of the state. The Prosecutor General said that more than 13,000 inspections were carried out in order to supervise the accurate and uniform implementation of the legislation by state authorities, local authorities, other organizations and citizens. According to their results, more than 59 thousand individuals and legal entities were brought to various types of liability. At the request of prosecutors, the perpetrators extrajudicially compensated for the damage caused by them in the amount of about еб 105 million.

The prosecutor’s office has implemented measures aimed at improving the effectiveness of the competent authorities to prevent deaths and injuries in fires. The number of deaths decreased slightly last year, said the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus. However, the results of inspections showed the insufficiency of measures taken by authorized services and organizations in the field of fire safety.

In particular, in all regions, facts of improper interaction of prevention subjects in preventing fires in the residential sector and conducting individual preventive work were found. At the same time, the exchange of information and consideration of information on the identified signs of unsafe residence were not timely. The main causes of fires that have become more frequent in the past three years, as well as a high level of death on them, were careless fire handling, non-compliance with the rules of operation of electrical equipment, violation of the rules for the device and operation of furnace heating. In response, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported these problems to the Government.
