In 2025, the number of registered crimes in the country decreased by almost 13%, in the current year — by even more than 8%, this is the lowest number of crimes in the last 30 years. This was stated by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus Dmitry Gora on October 7 at a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, sb.by correspondent reports.

In his speech, Dmitry Gora informed the deputies of the House of Representatives and members of the Council of the Republic about the main results of the supervisory activities of the department, the response measures taken and the initiatives of prosecutors, including normative ones. The Prosecutor General gave examples of specific violations of the law, including in the fight against corruption, the agro-industrial complex and the woodworking industry. He also elaborated on aspects of protecting the rights and legitimate interests of minors and other vulnerable categories of citizens.
In particular, he covered the criminal situation in the republic, issues of countering cybercrime, extremist and corruption crimes:
— There has been a positive trend in the decrease in the number of deaths from crimes, in particular from murders and drug crimes, as well as as as a result of violation of traffic rules. Less was committed theft, robbery, hooliganism, intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, crimes related to "domestic" violence. A quarter less crimes were committed by minors — this is the historical minimum of juvenile delinquency in sovereign Belarus (by 26.2% in 2025, by 19% in the past period of 2026).

The Prosecutor General drew attention to the fact that the number of crimes committed by persons with a criminal record has decreased (16% in 2025, by 12.3% in the past period of this year).
So, last year, the norm of the Criminal Code, which allows the court to oblige a person for whom preventive supervision is carried out, to go to work or undergo compulsory treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction, has fully earned. As a result, the number of persons under preventive supervision and employed in the economy has tripled in two years – more than 90% of such persons are currently employed (up to 30% before the changes).
- Similar rules for persons under preventive supervision have also had a positive effect. At the same time, a significant number of cybercrimes remained, the share of which in the overall structure of crime was 30% (27% in 2025). The frequent extortion (blocking access to Apple devices with the subsequent demand for money for their unlocking) and cases of unauthorized access to computer information (hacking accounts of users of Viber and Telegram messengers) are primarily associated with the use of information technologies and the growth of the level of informatization of the population, the active use of modern means of communication by citizens.
It is noteworthy that the stolen funds were often withdrawn outside the country — for the operational blocking of Internet resources and telecommunication channels, changes were made to the CPC (entered into force in May 2025), which provide for a restriction of access to relevant resources on the recommendation of law enforcement agencies, Dmitry Gora drew attention.
- Artificial intelligence technology is actively used, as well as virtual telephone stations that allow you to call from anywhere in the world with the display of Belarusian numbers (GSM gateways, SIM boxes), the Prosecutor General of Belarus said.
