Unusual trajectory of movement, sudden rearrangements, unreasonable braking and switched off headlights in the dark may indicate that a person is driving in a state of intoxication. Such signs require attention from other road users.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of Chuvashia has prepared a preventive video on the identification of potentially dangerous drivers and the actions of eyewitnesses.
Watch the video on the topic
The department reminds that alcohol impairs coordination of movements, slows down the reaction and reduces the ability to correctly assess the traffic situation. As a result, the risk of entering the oncoming lane, hitting a pedestrian and colliding with other cars increases.
The video details the external and behavioral signs of possible intoxication. At the same time, it is emphasized that the driver’s condition can be finally established only in the manner prescribed by law.
Eyewitnesses are advised not to try to stop or chase a suspicious vehicle on their own. It is necessary to remember his registration number, make, color, location and direction of movement, and then pass the information to the police on number 102.
Special attention is paid to responsibility. For driving in a state of intoxication, a fine of 45 thousand rubles and deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years is provided. If there are grounds, repeated violation entails criminal liability, including possible confiscation of the vehicle.
The main purpose of the video is to explain to residents of Chuvashia how a timely message about a dangerous driver can help prevent a serious accident.
The traffic police also urges citizens not to allow drunken relatives and acquaintances to drive a car.
If you know about a driver who is driving while intoxicated or about to drive after drinking alcohol, report to the police on 102 or anonymously through the channels of the public law enforcement project Antidealer Chuvashia:
