During the maintenance of the Unified register of vacant houses, information about almost 55 thousand houses has been entered into it. This was announced today, October 7, during a press conference on the topic “Work on the involvement of empty residential buildings and land plots in the economy.” The sale of unused state property, which took place in the press center of BelTA, was told by the consultant of the department of regulation of land relations of the main department of regulation of land relations, land management and land cadastre of the State Property Committee of the Republic of Belarus Evgeny Baturevich, the correspondent of sb.by reports.

Work with vacant houses is carried out on a regular basis, it begins with a survey of the territory by commissions created by local executive committees. Upon identification of objects that according to external signs meet the criteria of vacant - dilapidated and destroyed, without proper care of the land plot - they are placed in the Unified Register of Empty Houses. This information resource has been operating since the beginning of 2023 on the basis of the Unified Register of Property, Evgeny Baturevich noted:
- However, this does not mean that the house is empty. It is possible that there were other circumstances that led to the fact that the house is in this state. Despite this, since the house on its own grounds falls under the criteria of empty, the Executive Committee begins work in this direction and conducts a direct dialogue with the copyright holder of such a house. If he is known, he is notified that the house must be put in proper condition. If it is not known whose house it is, then the local executive committee publishes a notice in the media that the owner of such a house is wanted. If such an owner is, he has time to bring the house into proper condition. This is usually given a year. If there are good reasons, this period can be extended, but still the control is carried out by the Executive Committee.
If the house is still recognized as empty, the owner did not appear, its further involvement in economic circulation is possible in several ways: sale, demolition and, alternatively, the provision of land with the subsequent demolition of this vacant house. Or you can leave this house in the ownership of the administrative-territorial unit, said Evgeny Baturevich:
- All information about the identified houses is placed in the Unified Register of Empty Houses. Not all houses that are on the registry can be purchased. To see exactly those options that are currently offered for sale, you need to set the appropriate search criteria. During the maintenance of the Unified register of vacant houses, information about almost 55 thousand houses has been entered into it. This does not mean that all of them were declared empty: some of the objects were put in order by the owners, and some were included in the register incorrectly. By the way, in recent years, the number of identified houses has decreased. According to preliminary data for incomplete 2026, such objects will be detected less than in the previous year. Accordingly, there was also a slight decline in 2025. The Unified Register of Property contains information on more than 1.5 million real estate objects
