Since the beginning of 2026, Gosstandart has controlled more than 600 types of imported snack products. As a result, more than 60 items are prohibited for import and circulation in the Belarusian market, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
The press service of the State Standard noted that the regional inspections of the Committee on a permanent basis ensure the control of the safety and quality of imported snacks and soy snacks.
During the inspections, violations of marking were revealed. For example, there was no information about the functional purpose of food additives, as well as inscriptions about the presence of sweeteners: “contains sugars and sweeteners”, “with a sweetener”, “contains a sweetener”.
Violations of the requirements of the EAEU technical regulations on safety indicators were also recorded. In the production of products, manufacturers used food additives unacceptable for this product: sweeteners (neogesperidin dihydrohalcone (E959), aspartame (E951), sucralose (E955), neotam (E961), cyclamate (E952), saccharin (E954) and the antioxidant isoascorbate sodium (E316).
In addition, cases of sales of products without existing conformity assessment documents have been established.
- Products that do not meet the mandatory requirements of the EAEU technical regulations are prohibited for sale, and products that can cause harm to life and health of people are prohibited for import and circulation in the Republic of Belarus, the State Standard said.
The State Standard recommends that consumers carefully study the labeling. The main landmark is the EAU sign, which confirms the passage of mandatory conformity assessment procedures. Also on the packaging should be information in Russian or Belarusian about the name of the product, manufacturer, composition, date of manufacture and shelf life.
