The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin paid a working visit to Balakhna - together with the head of the district Anton Bykov, he inspected the landmark objects of the city, checked the progress of improvement and outlined plans for the next years.
One of the points of the visit was the “House of Moscow”, where today there is a local history museum and the only museum of the people’s militia dedicated to Kuzma Minin in the country. Moscow allocated 300 million rubles for overhaul and improvement of the building. Nikitin inspected the infrastructure and discussed with the head of the district the improvement of the adjacent territory, noting that this space can become an independent local tourist symbol of Balakhna.
The Governor also visited the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin with the chapel of Saints Boris and Gleb, where restoration work is being completed, visited the Museum of Salting and Minin Square. Next year, the square will be landscaped as part of the all-Russian competition “Small cities and historical settlements”.
Anton Bykov proposed to prepare an action plan for the 555th anniversary of Balakhna, which the city will celebrate in 2029. The governor supported the initiative, but instructed to pay more attention to the repair and development of the housing and communal complex.
