Historical festival “Visiting the Nezhinsky hussars” was held in Yelets

In Yelets, a military-historical festival “Visiting the Nezhinsky hussars” was held. The holiday was timed to the 130th anniversary of the cantonment of cavalrymen in the city, said the head of Yelets Vyacheslav Jabin.

The memorable date was associated with the events of 1896, when the first units of the regiment arrived in Yelets. During the festival, the citizens recreated the details of the camp life of cavalrymen of the turn of the century, and also organized demonstrations of horsemen and an excursion into the military history of the region.

The basis of the program was the numbers of the club of reenactors and the equestrian center "Crystal". The mayor thanked the participants for their work, noting that visual immersion in the era helps young people to study history outside the framework of school textbooks.
