IT expert explained whether power banks can harm the battery of the smartphone
Ultra-budget portable chargers could lead to premature wear of phone battery

The use of ultra-budget portable chargers can lead to premature wear of the phone’s battery. This was stated in an interview with NEWS.ru by the editor-in-chief of the information and analytical publication “Runet” Vladimir Zykov.
According to him, the main problem of cheap unknown models is savings on electronic components. Such devices use poor-quality power management boards that are not able to provide stable voltage.
“They can give out unstable voltage or not shut down when the voltage surges, which wears out the phone controller. The main enemy of lithium-ion batteries is high temperature. If the user charges the phone from a power bank and at the same time actively uses it, for example, plays, shoots videos, uses a navigator on a car panel under the sun, excess heat greatly accelerates the chemical degradation of the battery, said Zykov.
The second risk factor is overheating. Chemical degradation of lithium-ion batteries is greatly accelerated under the influence of high temperature. The expert cautioned against using a smartphone while charging from an external battery, especially if the user plays, shoots video or uses the navigator on the dashboard of the car in direct sunlight.
