By the end of 2030, the share of energy independence of Belarus should be at least 33%. On October 6, leading Belarusian and foreign experts spoke about the prospects for the development of the industry at the international scientific conference at the National Academy of Sciences. About this correspondent sb.by reported in the press service of the National Academy of Sciences.

The event was held in a hybrid format, bringing together representatives of the scientific community, government agencies and business from Belarus, Russia, China, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Opening the conference, Konstantin Kozadaev, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physical and Technical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, stressed that today energy is not just an industry, but a basic condition for national security and economic growth:
Energy today is not only light and heat. It is the foundation of industry, the foundation of food and social stability, and one of the key factors of national security. That is why sustainable energy development in Belarus is not a sectoral task, but a national priority. Konstantin Kozadaev also noted that the commissioning of the Belarusian NPP was a historical event for the country, which allowed to qualitatively change the structure of the energy balance and strengthen energy independence. But sustainability is a movement that has no finish line. Today, it is necessary to balance between traditional and green generation, introduce digital platforms and smart networks, and train personnel capable of ensuring the technological sovereignty of the country.

Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives on Industry, Energy, Transport, Communications and Digital Development Vitaly Utkin noted that over 30 years the energy complex of the Republic of Belarus has seriously changed:
- He became recognizable on the world stage. A number of world countries today consider us a reliable partner in this industry. We must understand that today we are among the top 30 nuclear powers, which today represent the world platform. The program of the international scientific conference is designed for 4 days. Its participants will discuss a wide range of topics – from energy efficient technologies to the introduction of artificial intelligence in the industry.
