Ivanovo Fire and Rescue Academy celebrates 60th anniversary
Six decades of Ivanovo Fire and Rescue Academy

Six decades have passed since the Ivanovo Fire and Rescue Academy. During the existence of the educational institution, more than 26 thousand specialists received professional training here.
The anniversary events began with the opening of a memorial complex dedicated to the graduates of the Academy who died in the zone of a special military operation. The stands contain the names of Anton Katyunin, Dmitry Fedorov and Mikhail Deryagin. All three were posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Kurenkov, Governor of the Ivanovo region Stanislav Voskresensky, representatives of specialized universities from other regions, veterans of the service and relatives of the victims.
After the laying of flowers, construction took place. The oath was taken by freshmen, students and cadets - a total of 276 people.
Cadet Anastasia Osipova said that as a child she decided to connect her life with the rescue service. Before entering the academy, she worked as a fire dispatcher. The day of taking the oath, she said, was particularly exciting.
Alexander Kurenkov addressed the cadets with a parting word. The Minister wished future rescuers to preserve the traditions of the Academy, responsibly perform their official duties and continue their professional development.
Governor Stanislav Voskresensky also stressed the importance of the profession chosen by the cadets and urged them to remember those for whom they will work.
After the official part, performances of a brass band, an ensemble of drummers and an honor guard company were organized for the guests.
During the visit, Alexander Kurenkov inspected the sports ground of the Academy and handed over a certificate for sports equipment to the educational institution. In addition, the Minister presented departmental awards to employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Four people received medals for fire rescue.
The Ivanovo units also received nine units of new equipment. Among them is an aeroboat with a transport device for GIMS.
