The summer season of 2026 for Belarusian sanatoriums located outside the republic turned out to be tense. This was told to journalists on October 6 by the director of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium and Resort Treatment of the Population Gennady Bolbatovsky, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
According to Bolbatovsky, due to the difficulties with air traffic in the Russian Federation, health resorts in this country did not always reach one hundred percent load. Nevertheless, the economic results of their activities remained positive.
As Bolbatovsky noted, with regard to the European direction, the sanatorium "Belarus" in Druskininkai (Lithuania) worked out the summer in a normal mode with almost full load. At the same time, the sanatorium “Belarus” in Jurmala (Latvia) is still mothballed due to the lack of constructive dialogue with the Latvian side.
The journalists asked whether Belarus plans to acquire health facilities outside the CIS. As an example, a popular resort was cited - near Lake Issyk-Kul. Mr. Bolbatovsky replied in the negative. He stressed that the domestic market remains a priority.
- I will say frankly and without cunning: in our republic there is a huge natural potential, in the development of which it is advisable to invest money, the expert said. We have at least 47 other proven mineral water springs that can be developed and built around them. In addition, the country has more than 50 lakes with valuable sapropel mud, suitable for use for medicinal purposes. There is no urgent need to build or buy facilities far beyond Belarus. We don't make plans like that.
