What purchases deprive the family of child benefits: a list from a lawyer
Unified allowance for children under 17 years old, the state charges families with low incomes

Since 2023, the single allowance has replaced the former disparate payments: for child care up to one and a half years, for children from 1.5 to 3 and from 3 to 7 years, for children from 8 to 17 years and for pregnant women registered in the early stages.
The “zero income rule” applies when making payments: adult family members must either work officially or justify why they cannot. Good reasons are considered to be:
If a parent has the opportunity to work, but there are no valid reasons from this list, and money does not appear in the family, the allowance may be denied. A person registered in the employment center is no longer listed under “zero income”: it is believed that he is actively looking for work and will soon begin to get it, the lawyer explains, her words are cited by Komsomolskaya Pravda.
A family applying for benefits is entitled to own only one apartment. Several apartments are allowed if the total for each household is not more than 24 square meters. Buying additional real estate – even in a mortgage – deprives the family of the status of poor. The same rule applies to residential buildings: their total area may not exceed 40 square meters per person.
According to Oksana Vasilyeva, we are talking about individual housing construction. A cottage with a decorated living room will also fit into this framework - and will also be taken into account.
Payments will be reduced if the family gets a land plot larger than 0.25 hectares in the city or more than a hectare in rural areas.
A low-income family can own one car and one garage. Buying a second car, the support will be removed.
It is important that the allowance is issued for a year, so nothing will be taken away instantly. If the purchase occurred after the submission of documents, it will be “forgotten” until the next application. But when applying for payment for the new year, all purchases will come out: they will assess the income and property of the family for the year, which, according to the calculation method, ends four months before the appeal.
The lawyer listed other circumstances due to which payments for children are terminated:
The poor are recognized by families where income per person does not reach the subsistence minimum of the region. Hence an important detail: you need to live where you receive benefits, because the regional subsistence minimum is taken into account.
The lawyer gave an example: on Sakhalin and in the Far East as a whole, the minimum is high, so many families keep their residence there, but they themselves live in the south. However, government agencies are now closely monitoring movements: travel by plane, bus or train is easily traced. Such “immigrants” are canceled social benefits, including child benefits.
The status of the poor is determined by everyone who lives together and leads a common household: spouses, children, parents, guardians and wards. All income before taxes and mandatory payments are taken into account - salary and bonuses, profit from business and self-employment, pensions, scholarships, alimony, social payments, renting of property, interest on deposits and deposits, dividends, income from the products of personal subsidiary farming.
Further, the degree of need is considered - the amount of payment depends on it:
And the last nuance: from January 1 of this year, the rules were tightened – now every able-bodied family member for the last 12 months must earn at least eight minimum wage, which corresponds to about 18,000 rubles a month.
