What is the formula for the political success of Belarus - social research data

Deputy Director of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies Vitaly Punchenko named social and political trends of Belarus during the presentation of the second part of the results of a large-scale comprehensive republican sociological study, which concerns socio-political topics, sb.by correspondent reports.

Vitaly Punchenko noted that the study made it possible to diagnose the quality of state policy, to fix the most problematic points for further adjustments of the work of the authorities and management. This corresponds to the constant emphasis of the Head of State on the need to justify the trust of citizens

- As for the key points, first of all, I would like to note the political maturity and responsibility of the Belarusian society. For most citizens, politics is associated primarily with the activities and decisions of the state, as well as with the possibility of real participation in these processes. Belarusians assess the authorities on specific issues, not slogans and are ready to speak directly about shortcomings. The second point concerns the high level of public trust in the state and the political course of the Head of State. Comparative analysis with the measurements of 2020-2025 records the positive dynamics of this indicator. The survey shows that trust is maintained and strengthened even between election campaigns.

The third emphasis is that the formula for the country’s political success is determined by such components as peaceful life, support for the presidential course, the demand for development and efficiency.

- There is a point of unity in which the world is the basis, and the economy is the main criterion of success in politics. Moreover, the survey confirmed the public’s perception of the importance of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly. It is the result of concrete decisions that are already being implemented, it is a model for representative decision-making. It is assessed positively by society, said Vitaly Punchenko.

The Deputy Director of BISI noted that, despite the positive perception of the activities of local vertical bodies in general, residents of the regions are sensitive to issues that directly affect their lives. This concerns the complexity in solving housing issues, point claims to the work of the housing and communal services system, as well as the issue of slowing wage growth:

- For Belarusians, it is important that the local vertical acts within the framework of interests, taking into account the peculiarities and points of growth of each region. Both the first and second parts of our survey together capture the image of society for unpacking the domestic reserves of the economy, more active support for entrepreneurship, private initiatives, especially farming. This coincides with the attention that the President has recently paid to creating equal conditions and real support for those who work honestly and for results.

- We feel safe on the streets of our city, in transport, and in our home. This is the result of the government’s close attention to this issue. In many ways, this indicator is the basis of public consent. This is a kind of visiting card of our country. It is also important that the Belarusian society as a whole strives for happiness with all the social and everyday problems that our respondents call. The results of the survey break stereotypes about the depression of a number of regions, prove the possibility of discrepancy between statistical indicators and the self-perception of society, which once again confirms the importance of sociology and sociological measurements for assessing the situation in the country as a whole, the deputy director of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies said.
