Calugans told what to pray to the “apostle of love”
Orthodox Kalugans celebrate the day of the repose of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian

Orthodox Kalugans celebrate the day of the repose of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian. One of the twelve closest disciples of Jesus Christ was the younger brother of the Apostle James. He preached Christianity in Asia Minor and wrote the Book of Revelation, and then wrote the Gospel and three Epistles.
The saint lived to the age of one hundred and became the only one of the twelve apostles whose life did not end with a martyr’s execution. The Church calls John the “Apostle of Love” because he said that without love one cannot approach God and encourages believers to treat each other with love.
Believers ask him for consent and prosperity in marriage, healing from illness and help in tribulations. Since John is called the patron saint of travelers, they also pray to him before a long journey for protection on the way and a successful return. He helps the offended, the mourners, as well as artists and writers.
In the morning, believers usually visit the temple, and after it, the hostess baked special pies and treated passers-by and those in need with them. On this day, the stove was burned and was aimed at doing good deeds.
You can not quarrel and swear, refuse help, work after lunch, wear old shoes, eat onions and garlic.
It is also believed that the marriage, concluded on October 9, will be short-lived and unhappy.
As reported by “MK in Kaluga” earlier, the Kaluzhians were told about the rules for Sergei Kapustnik.
