Kalugans celebrate Dimitriev’s parental Saturday
This is a day of special commemoration of the dead, which was established by Prince Dmitry Donskoy after the Battle of Kulikovo in memory of the fallen soldiers

This is a day of special commemoration of the dead, which was established by Prince Dmitry Donskoy after the Battle of Kulikovo in memory of the fallen soldiers. Since then, on this day in the churches serve the funeral liturgy and memorial service, and believers serve notes with the names of baptized relatives.
The main thing on this day is prayer for the dead. Today it is necessary to come to the service, put candles for the dead and bring food on the church eve. If it is not possible to go to the temple, then you should pray at home and give alms to those in need. It is also customary to visit the graves of relatives.
The Kalujans are reminded that it is impossible to leave food on the graves, since the human soul is disembodied and does not need earthly food and drink.
In the people Dmitrievsky Saturday was called “grandfather”. Before her, the whole family washed thoroughly, and then sat down for a memorial meal. On the table put kutya, uzvar, pancakes and pastries, told children about the pedigree and remembered the dead.
As reported earlier, Kaluga residents were told what to pray about on November 6.
