It is an unofficial holiday that has been celebrated since 2007 to popularize books and revive interest in reading.
On this day, open readings are organized throughout the country in libraries, meetings with writers are held, and thematic lessons, reader contests, and discussions of works are held in schools.
According to this year, the share of Russian readers is 66%. At the same time, the highest reading activity is observed among young people aged 18 to 24 years.
