Kaluga weightlifters won the gold of the world championship

The champions were Ivan Kulakov, Roman Kiryukhin, Movsar Suleymanov, Alexandra Piven, Irina Martynova and Milena Trofimova. Kulakov also set a world record in the relay, lifting a weight of 47 kg 176 times. Silver of the championship was won by Timur Trofimov and Irina Martynova.
At the championship among athletes under 23 years old, Timur and Milena Trofimov won. Silver winners were Artem Vasin and Alexandra Piven.
