The popularity of Karelia as a point of attraction for tourists during the November holidays was confirmed by Roman Gareev, who heads the department of hotel and tourism management at Plekhanov REU.
This year, the celebration of the Day of National Unity falls on Wednesday, because of which the working week will be broken. So, after the rest on November 4, citizens will go to work for two days - on Thursday and Friday (5 and 6 November), while Tuesday, November 3, will be shortened.
As the expert explained, today travelers from the Russian Federation are interested in informative domestic tourism. The leaders in the number of reservations are the classic cities of the Golden Ring (Vladimir, Suzdal, Yaroslavl and Kostroma), as well as trips to Pskov and Veliky Novgorod, attracting fans of ancient architecture and a rich historical past.
In addition, the expert drew attention to the high demand for such locations as the North Caucasus (including Elbrus and Pyatigorsk) and picturesque Karelia.
Analyzing the duration of trips, Gareev stressed that due to the specifics of the mini-vacation, most travelers stop on mini-tours lasting a couple of days. However, there are many people who book for 5-6 days – as a rule, these are family travelers who prefer a measured pace.
As for long trips for one and a half to two weeks (from 8 to 12 days), they are less popular. According to the expert, such options are chosen for complex combined routes in the Caucasus region or for trips to remote corners of the country, for example, to Lake Baikal.
