According to the head of the region, Fet is known primarily as an outstanding poet, but few people know that he was also a practicing lawyer. After the judicial reform of Alexander II, Fet became a justice of the peace in the Kursk province and devoted almost 11 years to this work. Many archival documents and personal diaries have been preserved, and when you read them, you realize that nothing really changes except your own names.
Alexander Khinshtein noted that the figure of Fet has a special significance for the region: here he lived, created and worked, and in the village of 2nd Sparrow there is the only preserved museum-estate in Russia. Last year, the Governor together with the Chairman of the AYUR Sergey Stepashin visited it. According to the head of the region, Fet is a vivid example of how multifaceted a talented person can be.
The Governor shared the idea of the award: the medal is offered to celebrate for works in the field of law, popularization of the legal profession, merits in legal journalism and journalism, as well as for the preservation of historical, legal and cultural heritage. He also proposed to hold an annual award in Vorobyovka, where the estate of Fet is put in order with the support of AYUR. Today it is one of the most visited tourist points on the map of the region.
