In Naberezhnye Chelny, cardiac surgeons of the Emergency Hospitals conducted a unique operation, returning to life a 49-year-old woman who faced a rare and deadly condition. As the head of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan Almir Abashev told in the social network MAKS, during a normal bicycle walk she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her chest, and her legs failed. The husband immediately called an ambulance, and doctors quickly diagnosed aortic dissection - the walls of the largest vessel began to peel off almost the entire length. Such pathology develops rapidly and without immediate intervention almost always leads to death.
The battle for the patient’s life continued throughout the night. Doctors had to transfuse several liters of blood and a liter of plasma, and it was only five hours later to stop the bleeding. Only after that, the surgeons began the main operation, which was hybrid in nature and required filigree accuracy. Chief freelance cardiac surgeon of the Ministry of Health of Tatarstan Ramis Yakubov noted that specialists gradually prostheticated the departments of the thoracic aorta and ascending arteries, switched all the arteries of the head, and a stent graft was installed in the aortic arch. In fact, they reassembled the damaged vessel, restoring blood supply to vital organs.
After the operation, the patient spent three more days in intensive care, and two weeks later she was discharged home.
