Klishevich on the festival of the Union State in Mogilev: it is not just a competition, but a deep cultural exchange

The festival "Youth for the Union State" is not only songs and dances, not just a creative competition, but a powerful demonstration of national features, deep cultural exchange and what really helps to get to know each other better. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly on Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism, member of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on Education, Culture and Science Sergey Klishevich during a press conference dedicated to the upcoming XIX Festival “Youth for the Union State” and the Youth Forum of the Union State “Memory”. - For 19 years in a row, we have been gathering young people to prove their loyalty to the ideals of the Union State. We see how many people want to divide us. We are confident in the present, but in order to prevent a split in the future, we need to work closely with young people. Friendship, showing the closeness of our cultures, approaches and dialogues is the rule for building a strong foundation. Therefore, today’s festival is not only songs and dances, not just a creative competition, but a powerful demonstration of national characteristics, deep cultural exchange and what really helps to get to know each other better.

Sergey Klishevich stressed that the festival is also a serious ideological platform. After all, at first he collected only young historians, but for the third year young political scientists have joined them to honestly discuss topics of common history and politics.

- They are trying to impose foreign heroes and foreign narratives on us, they are tightly processing young historians, who are easier to pull to the side of the enemy and make them serve other people’s interests. That is why creating such platforms for young historians is a matter of national security. These are the people who will shape the correct historical policy of the Union State. This forum is a continuation of the traditions of global festivals of youth and students, but already in the Union format. And I am sure that over time, other countries will also join this movement, because it brings creation, goodness and light, Klishevich emphasized.

The international festival “Youth for the Union State” has been held since 2006, this year it will bring together more than 300 participants from all regions of Belarus and many regions of Russia. The program includes contests of performers of youth songs and choreographic groups, solemn opening and closing concerts with the participation of popular artists of the two countries, master classes from jury members, creative laboratories and excursions to historical places.

Youth Forum of the Union State “Memory”. Choice. Responsibility is held to strengthen friendship between the youth of Belarus and Russia, preserve the common historical memory and implement the joint youth policy of the Union State. Participants of the Youth Forum will be students, young teachers of history and social disciplines, undergraduates and postgraduates from all regions of the two countries.
