Book about the legendary commander Bagration presented in the National Library of Belarus
The book "One Legacy." P.I. Bagration became the first edition in the history of sovereign Belarus dedicated to the legendary commander Peter Ivanovich.

The book “United Heritage. P. I. Bagration” became the first edition in the history of sovereign Belarus, which is dedicated to the legendary commander Pyotr Ivanovich Bagration. This was announced by the author of the book, a researcher at the Center for Military History of Belarus of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Dmitry Rakov at the presentation of the book in the National Library, BelTA writes.

The publication is timed to the 260th anniversary of the birth of Peter Bagration and the 90th anniversary of the creation of the Volkovysk Military Historical Museum named after Peter Ivanovich Bagration.
“I wanted every citizen of Belarus to be able to read about Bagration through the prism of what was happening at that time on the territory of our country,” said Dmitry Rakov. It was also important for me to show him as a person with his everyday problems and worldview.
According to him, Bagration left no memoirs, so all the information about the commander learn primarily from military staff documentation.
The foreword to the publication was written by the Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Vadim Gigin. The first chapter of the book is devoted to the ascent of Bagration as a commander, the second - the war of 1812. The third chapter is the perpetuation of memory, including information about the Volkovysk Military Historical Museum named after Peter Ivanovich Bagration, where during the war of 1812 the headquarters of the commander was located.
According to Dmitry Rakov, the third chapter of the book presents information and pictures of unique exhibits that are stored in the funds of the Volkovysk Military Historical Museum named after P. I. Bagration and are unknown to the general public. For example, the banner of the 1800s, which allegedly belonged to a regiment of the Russian army. “This is an extra-class exhibit,” the author of the book emphasized. - He's over 226 years old. I hope that thanks to such publications, people will learn about what rarities are stored in museums of our country.”.
He added that the book contains many illustrations, maps, historical documents and battle paintings.
The publication was published by the National Library of Belarus and included in the plan of socially significant publications of the Ministry of Information.
