The Kola nuclear power plant has reached a historic milestone - generated 500 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. This was reported by the Governor of the Murmansk region Andrei Chibis.
This amount of electricity would be enough for almost 40 years of power supply to the entire Murmansk region – from residential buildings to large enterprises.
The Kola nuclear power plant became the world's first nuclear power plant built beyond the Arctic Circle. Its launch in the 1970s proved that nuclear power could operate reliably in harsh Arctic conditions.
Today, the station provides about 60% of the Murmansk region’s electricity needs. Over the decades, there have been several generations of specialists who continue to develop nuclear energy in the region.
Meanwhile, in Polar Zorya are already preparing for the construction of the Kola NPP-2. The new project will provide the region with electricity for decades to come and create thousands of jobs.
Earlier, MK in Murmansk also reported that poor-quality energy was supplied to residents in Prince Guba.
