2026 has been declared the Year of the Belarusian Woman. This is a special time to highlight the diversity of our beautiful ladies. Belarusian woman is the personification of resilience, wisdom, beauty and boundless love. She is the keeper of the hearth, a caring mother, a devoted wife, a talented specialist and an active public figure. Her contribution to the development of our country is invaluable, and her image inspires new achievements.

There are not many warm words of gratitude and gratitude to a woman. Therefore, the publishing house “Belarus Today” together with the Belarusian Women’s Union announced the launch of the creative contest “Being a woman...” We invited readers to carefully, respectfully and lovingly look at women nearby and then put on paper the thoughts, reasonings, emotions, feelings. And readers responded. More than 150 creative works from Belarus and neighboring countries were sent to the competition.
The leading place among the heroines of stories was taken by mothers. All the reader's essays about them are imbued with special sincerity, warmth and emotional strength.
The oldest participant of the competition was a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, retired lieutenant colonel of state security agencies Roman Romanovich Pribyshchuk. He turned 99 years old on August 29. He sent a shrill work about his beloved, deceased wife Nina Ivanovna, with whom they had lived for 69 years.
According to the rules of the competition, a special commission of leading journalists of the publishing house assessed the work on a 10-point system. The following criteria were taken into account: artistic level, form of presentation, style, personal nature of perception of the topic, creativity, uniqueness, originality.
On September 28, the committee determined the winners. Grand Prix – Irina Gogulina (Vitebsk region, Tolochin) – the work “Three roots – one sprout”.
1st place – Ekaterina Bedulina (Minsk) – the work “Dance with buckets”.
2nd place – Leonid Prishchepa (Minsk) – the work of “Mama cherry”.
3rd place – Natalia Golubeva (Gomel) – the work “Good thoughts from Good Thoughts”. The finalists of the competition were:
Irina Antonevich (Minsk region, Borisov) – the work “Never say never”, Amina Vlasik (Vitebsk) – the work “Yae nutras cela the theater”, Irina Pluto (Brest region, Baranovichi) – the work “White ashes of Leningrad”, Inessa Ponizovich (Vitebsk) – the work “Real female happiness”, Larisa Klimenkova (Minsk district, ag. – Borovlya – “Minskayatska”, “Puglatska”, “Maryaskaya zhda” (Morna) – the first work”, “Maryaskayatskova” (Morna) – “Morskaya” (Maryaskayatska” (Marya) – “Morskaya) – “Morskaya” (Maryaskayatsko” (Morskaya) – “Morskaya” (Mary) – the work”, “Morskayatskaya.
The winner of the Grand Prix, the three winners, as well as the finalists of the competition were invited to the award ceremony, which will be held on October 16 at the National Library.
