The courier with the code word “Apple” stole from Nizhny Novgorod 8 million rubles

In the Nizhny Novgorod region detained a 24-year-old native of Novosibirsk, suspected of a series of frauds totaling more than 8 million rubles. This was reported in the press service of the GU MIA of Russia in the region.

The police appealed 68-year-old resident of Gorodets. According to her, in September she began to call unknown, posing as employees of law enforcement agencies. They urged the woman to urgently “declar” income and to collect savings and transfer them to the courier, calling the code word “Apple”. The pensioner fulfilled the instructions and near his house gave the young man a package with 587 thousand rubles. After that, the scammers stopped communicating.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact. The courier was quickly detained. During the trial, it turned out that he was involved in several similar crimes. In total, according to police, he stole from Nizhny Novgorod 8 million rubles. The victims of the attacker were residents of the Soviet and Avtozavodsk districts of Nizhny Novgorod, as well as Gorodets.
