According to the investigation, in October 2026, the attackers called the 49-year-old Yoshkarolinka and introduced themselves as law enforcement officers. They persuaded the woman to hand over her savings for a so-called "declaration", promising to return the entire amount later.

The accused, as the investigation believes, performed the role of courier in the criminal scheme. He received from the victim 4 million rubles, and after an alleged check of savings returned her fake bills instead of real money.

The actions of the man qualified as fraud committed by an organized group on an especially large scale. Taking into account the position of the Yoshkar-Ola prosecutor's office, the court chose the accused a preventive measure in the form of detention.

The criminal investigation is ongoing. This is reported by the press service of the regional Prosecutor’s office.
