The unions conducted more than 150 monitoring of children's camps in the summer. This was told to journalists by the head of the department of social and cultural work of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Natalia Fedoruk, BelTA writes.

“This year, technical labour inspectors monitored more than 150 health camps during the summer period. Representatives of trade unions actively participated in the work of the commission for the acceptance of health camps. We aim to conduct these monitoring as early as possible before the start of the summer period or the opening of camp shifts so that violations can be promptly addressed before the children arrive. Monitoring is not just a visual inspection. This is a really thorough check of all objects that can create traumatic situations: gaming, sports outdoor equipment, rooms from bedrooms, showers, food blocks, said Natalia Fedoruk.
According to her, the work of technical labor inspectors of the Federation of Trade Unions is aimed primarily at the prevention of injuries. This year, about 500 violations of labor protection legislation were identified and the operation of three pieces of faulty equipment of children's playgrounds, which posed a threat to the life and health of children, was suspended. But since these violations were quickly eliminated, the children went to really safe institutions.
Natalia Fedoruk added that trade unions also organize insurance for the children of their employees against accidents and diseases. In matters of children's recreation in general, substantial financial support is provided, the cost of vouchers is partially reimbursed or reduced. The amount of financial assistance provided increases annually. Any member of the trade union can apply for it with the provision of relevant documents, but priority is given to large, single-parent families, as well as families who raise children with disabilities, children left without parental care, adopted children.
In addition, trade union organizations conduct labor actions and subbotniks for the preparation and improvement of camps. This year, youth trade union activists actively joined this work. The Youth Council of the Federation of Trade Unions held labor actions for the improvement of the children's sanatorium "Svisloch".
“In cooperation with employers and owners, attention was paid to strengthening the logistical base. Outdoor and gaming equipment, bedding, music and computer equipment were purchased. This is a good help to ensure that the rest of children was interesting, comfortable and prosperous, summed up Natalia Fedoruk.
