Lipchanka photographed the bright Northern lights in the Dobrovsk district

In the sky over the Lipetsk region on the evening of October 10, auroras broke out. Footage of a rare natural phenomenon for the region was shared by Gorod48.

Colorful pictures were taken by Svetlana Koshkarova in the village of Korenevshchino of Dobrovsk district. To avoid city light, the photographer shot the night sky at a long exposure: the equipment helped capture juicy colors that the naked eye usually perceives only as a pale haze.

The cause of the celestial show was the flares on the Sun and the ensuing strong magnetic storm level G3. The solar wind speed exceeded 900 kilometers per second, and geomagnetic disturbances can persist until October 12.
