“A patchwork history”: the exhibition of Elena Kuzmina opened in Pushchino
In the Museum of Ecology and Local History of the city of Pushchino, the opening of the exhibition “The patchwork history” by Elena Kuzmina took place.

The event was held in a warm and trusting atmosphere, which allowed the audience to take a different look at the art of patchwork sewing.
Elena Kuzmina for 25 years has been leading the circle “Human Handicraft” in the Center for Children’s Creativity in the village of Bolshaya Gryzlovo, transferring her skills to everyone who wants to master the craft. Among her students is the grandson Trofim Petelin, who today is a participant in numerous exhibitions and festivals. The first steps in the craft they did together: cutting, picking up fabrics, mastering the technique of laying lines. In the current exposition, Trofim Petelin’s works are presented next to the works of Elena Kuzmina – they are distinguished by diligence and sincerity, harmoniously complementing mature author’s compositions.
As part of the exposition, both decorative and practical products are demonstrated: classic patchwork compositions, quilted things, modern textile panels, as well as shoppers, backpacks, cosmetics, pencil cases and handbags.
At the opening ceremony, Elena Kuzmina spoke about her creative path, revealed the history of creating key works and shared the nuances of choosing a color palette. Visitors were in no hurry to leave the exhibition: they considered each work for a long time, carefully studied stitches and combinations of fabrics, actively exchanged impressions and sincerely admired the exhibits.
The exhibition “Twisted History” will be available until October 24. Everyone is invited to get acquainted with the unique world of patchwork sewing.
