Magnetic storm October 13, 2026: Volgograd residents are waiting for a new powerful geostrike
Meteo-dependent residents of the Volgograd region should prepare for the final geostrike

What do we know about the coming storm?
After a series of strong geomagnetic disturbances, the intensity of solar activity finally began to decline. However, scientists warn that it is too early to relax. According to specialists of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute of Space Research and the Institute of Solar-Earth Physics, on Tuesday, October 13, the planet is waiting for the last serious shock. The peak of the space storm is predicted in the morning, from 9.00 to noon.
The probability of a full-fledged magnetic storm on October 13 is estimated at 55%. Another 35% falls on the excited state of the magnetosphere. Since night, the Earth continues to experience geomagnetic disturbances. The Cr index ranged from 4 to 5 points. After 12:00, the force of the blows will weaken slightly to 4 points. Only after 18:00 the situation will gradually stabilize.
Current physical indicators remain high. The Ap index is 28. The solar radio emission F10.7 is fixed at 115. Flares on the surface of the Sun are not yet on the decline. The risk of another storm on October 14 is 36%. In the following days, the likelihood of strong disturbances will continue to decrease. This indicates a gradual attenuation of geostrokes.
Solar activity is cyclical and directly affects the Earth’s magnetic field. Coronal mass ejections and flares on the star’s surface create streams of charged particles. When these particles reach our planet’s magnetosphere, they cause geomagnetic storms. This is what happened at the beginning of the month.
Context: echoes of a powerful storm
Recall that on October 10, the strongest magnetic storm hit the Earth in the last three months. The storm reached G3 levels. The last time a disturbance of comparable strength was observed on July 4, 2026. That storm was accompanied by intense auroras. The colorful phenomenon can be seen at geographical latitudes from 50 degrees and above. The reason for the large-scale event was the arrival of plasma clouds to Earth. They were ejected into space in a powerful burst of solar activity.
How do you protect yourself?
Experts strongly advise weather-dependent people to carefully monitor their health during such periods. Magnetic storms can cause headaches, pressure surges and general weakness. Blood pressure should be measured regularly. Doctors recommend a balanced diet. You should walk more in the fresh air and observe sleep. It is also important to minimize stressful situations and avoid excessive physical exertion.
