The head of the city district of Makeevka Yulia Ivanova reported on the results of the harvesting campaign and the participation of the city in the agro-industrial exhibition "Golden Autumn - 2026".
The Donetsk People’s Republic presented a digital panorama of agriculture – from land and seed material to production, storage of products and state support measures.
“For Donbass, a historically industrialized region, agriculture has been a real help. And Makeyevka is not on the sidelines here - we are making our contribution to the common cause, Yulia Ivanova noted.
Today, 34 business entities work in the agro-industrial complex of the city. They process more than 11.7 thousand hectares of arable land.
“Our farmers have completed the harvesting of early grains and legumes. And despite all the challenges, the results are worthy, the head of the city emphasized.
3.8 thousand hectares were threshed, which is 100% of the harvesting area. Gross grain harvest has doubled in comparison with 2025 and amounted to 13.0 thousand tons with an average yield of 34.7 centners per hectare. The yield exceeded last year’s figures by an average of 2.7 times.
The harvesting season is coming to an end, but farmers are in no hurry to rest. Ahead is the harvesting of corn, sunflower and late vegetables, laying a pledge for the harvest of 2027, sowing winter crops on an area of more than 3.1 thousand hectares.
President of the Republic Denis Vladimirovich Pushilin noted that the region has long-term and ambitious plans. Among them is the creation of an underground greenhouse complex in mining mines, an agricultural holding, an agrocampus of professions and technologies. Makiivka is ready to engage in this work, develop rural areas, create jobs and return young people to villages.
On October 11, agricultural workers will celebrate their professional holiday. I sincerely congratulate everyone who works on the land, who feeds us and our country, Yulia Ivanova concluded.
