Open military-patriotic marathon "We are defenders of the Fatherland", dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the heroic defense of Mogilev, started at the Belarusian-Russian University. Students from Belarus, Russia and Armenia take part in it, BelTA reports.

As the rector of the university Mikhail Lustenkov noted, the marathon is held for the second time and has acquired the status of an international one. “The main objective is to educate students about citizenship and patriotism. Universities should not only give professional competencies, but also prepare real patriots of their countries, ready in a difficult moment to defend the Motherland.
The marathon program includes both traditional testing and modern disciplines, such as drone control. “One of the objectives is to strengthen friendship between students from different countries. I think that each participant will receive a charge of vivacity and knowledge, and in his university will continue the work of educating citizenship and patriotism, the rector added.
4th year student of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy Nikolai Galynsky participates in the marathon for the second year in a row. Last year, his team took first place, in which the guys are also set to win. “Military-patriotic education is given great attention in our country. We trained for the marathon, practiced tactical shooting. It’s nice to see the rivals we met and shared experience with last year. Friendship is friendship and competition should be healthy, he said.
Kirill Lysov, a future physical culture teacher from Kuleshov Moscow State University, noted that participation in the marathon is an honor and an opportunity to get new emotions. Last year we made friends with participants from Armenia, and we hope to find common friends this time. The competition was prepared daily, practiced shooting technique, — said the student.
A member of the team of Tula State University as part of the student construction team “Armsman” sophomore Kirill Shishkin said that for many children this is the first trip to Mogilev. “This is an opportunity not only to compete, but also to learn the story of Mogilev. It is also important to communicate with peers from other spheres - economists, cadets, etc., the guy said.
The marathon program is busy. On October 28, participants are waiting for an intellectual contest “I know everything about the Great Patriotic War” and shooting from an AK-74 assault rifle. On October 29, a competition of UAV operators, a military-applied relay, practical shooting (strikeball) will be held, as well as a visit to the Buinich Field memorial complex and the Mogilev Glory Museum.
