Massive vaccination against influenza in Belarus will begin in October

Mass vaccination against influenza in Belarus will be held in October-November. This was informed by the head of the Department of hygiene, epidemiology and prevention of the Ministry of Health Inna Karaban, the correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti”.

I. Karaban, whose words are cited by BelTA, explained that these basic terms are determined with the calculation that the formation of immunity takes from two to four weeks inclusive. So the body will have time to develop protection before the seasonal rise in the incidence of this viral infection. It, as in previous years, is expected in late January - early February.

It will be possible to get vaccinated at the end of September, but it is paid and in the presence of the drug in a healthcare institution. The vaccine has already been purchased and, having been convinced of its quality, will be distributed to medical organizations before October. Then their workers will call for vaccination of those who are considered at risk.

Who gets vaccinated first

To do this in the absence of allergies to chicken protein should babies from six months, children from three years, adults with chronic diseases and immunodeficiency states. In the same row - people over 65 years.

Do not ignore vaccination is advised to pregnant, as well as medical, pharmaceutical workers. The recommendation applies fully to the staff of institutions with round-the-clock stay and those who are there. Another category that should be vaccinated is those working in government bodies that ensure the safety and vitality of the state.

If you're late for vaccination

Those who miss the main vaccination deadline will be able to get it in December and even in January. This is advisable subject to a calm influenza epidemic at that time. However, it may become more difficult before the forecast period. In this case, a newly vaccinated person risks getting sick and may start blaming the vaccine, saying that it did not help, or even contributed. Modern drugs cannot cause the flu.

I. Karaban noted that vaccination against influenza is aimed at preventing its complications. With them in hospitals are often just unvaccinated people.

Waiting for new strains

In the upcoming epidemic season, new varieties of influenza viruses are expected to circulate. The good news, however, is that this has been incorporated into vaccines for Belarusians. Three names of medical preparations (“Grippol plus”, “Influvak Tetra”, “Vaxigrip Tetra”) were used a year earlier, but now their strain composition has been updated.
