The press service of the city administration of Kostroma reports that the mayor of the city Oleg Bolokhovets on September 23 met with volunteers of the movement “Tom Sawyer Fest”, who in 2026 returned the historical appearance of the 100-year-old wooden house in Ipatievskaya Sloboda. Volunteers restored the casings on the windows, made windows, installed drains, and to preserve the uniqueness of the house, the masters performed an artistic painting of the stone part of the building.
This house in the Ipatievskaya Sloboda is the second - and Tom Sawyers do not intend to stop there: they have also outlined the next object for restoration in the historical part of the city.
At a meeting with volunteers, among whom there are students of KSU and Polytechnic College, Oleg Bolokhovets noted: I believe that the result of this work is not only in physical embodiment. It is love and respect for the city and its heritage. This place that personifies our history and the main Kostroma shrine is the Ipatiev Monastery. Thank you for your work. I wish you creative growth, improve and pass on the experience to your friends and family. We will continue to provide our support.”.
