The incident occurred in the area of Marble Hill, which refers to Manhattan and is located near the Bronx. According to preliminary data, the agents surrounded the car, which was a man and a five-year-old child, and then opened fire. The victim was taken to the hospital, threats to the physical health of the child, according to the mayor, were not identified.
Mamdani said he intends to discuss what happened with Trump and demand that ICE cease its activities in the city. He also called for the removal of service personnel from residential areas, hospitals and the streets of New York.
The NYPD confirmed the shooting involving federal law enforcement and said its officers were not involved in the incident. The US Department of Homeland Security said agents were conducting a targeted operation to apprehend a man with a criminal record. The circumstances of the use of weapons are being investigated.
