Ivanova city hall demands to remove flower garden on Revolution Square

In Ivanovo, a dispute broke out around the flower garden “Crane Dawn” on Revolution Square. The city hall asks to eliminate the flower bed with perennials, which is in unsatisfactory condition.
The conflict arose around the project of the charitable foundation “Iva”. Two years ago, the Foundation team, together with volunteers, planted 1095 perennials and 500 bulbs here, investing more than 400 thousand rubles. In the spring, most of the plants were poisoned. Despite the replacement of soil, spilling and the use of special means, the soil has not yet recovered, and new plantations are dying.
The city hall demands to remove the flower garden with “bald spots” so as not to spoil the appearance of the city center.
The Iva Foundation disagrees with the liquidation. Representatives of the Foundation emphasize that the death of plants is a consequence of soil poisoning, not poor work. They argue the preservation of the flower garden economy (planting annuals costs the same 400 thousand rubles, but every year) and ecology (food for pollinators).
The fund has already brought new plants for autumn planting and is ready to continue the restoration, but asks not to destroy the results of three years of work. The mayor's office promised to consider the arguments of the public.
