We learned how Kalinkovichi prepared for Dazhynki-2026 and what has changed in the city over the months of large-scale work

The city and district to "Dazhynki-2026" blossomed, prettier, all jointly created and landscaped will remain local residents

In Kalinkovichi these days reigns a special pre-holiday atmosphere. In the city, which, despite the middle of autumn, noticeably transformed and blossomed, make the final touches to the picture created over the months. On October 10, guests of the regional festival-fair of workers of the village "Dazhynki-2026" will be welcomed here - an event that will become the brightest page in the annals of the regional center.

The fact that the place of the regional "Dazhynak-2026" will be Kalinkovichi, it became known during the previous festival in Lelchitsy. At the same time, a symbol of the holiday was transferred on his stage - a sheaf of grain ears. And at the end of last year, the executive authorities developed a plan that included about two hundred objects and events. Given the scale, they had to be implemented on a strict schedule. Along with builders, road workers and communal workers, collectives of industrial enterprises and private business joined.

Since spring, Kalinkovichi has turned into a grand construction site. Its main front was the road infrastructure. The key transport artery of the city, Sovetskaya Street, was reconstructed. Its carriageway was expanded to four lanes with storm sewers, “pockets” for public transport were built, and the old stops were replaced by new pavilions. During this period, of course, there were difficulties with movement, especially for motorists. However, the locals treated the temporary inconveniences with understanding. And in any debate on this topic, an indisputable argument always wins: the festival will be held, and everything done for the beauty and improvement of the city will remain for many years.

The repair and construction campaign affected almost all spheres of life: took up educational and health care institutions, housing and yard areas, a number of social facilities and public spaces. In the sports children and youth school of the Olympic reserve, in addition to repairing the premises, the reconstruction of the swimming pool bowl, heating and ventilation systems was carried out. In DYUSSH No. 2, seats in the stadium were replaced and a multifunctional open-air sports ground was installed. Anyone can do it, you just need a desire. Inside and outside, the district House of Culture was transformed: the halls, hall, facade were repaired. Same thing happened with the registry building. The city bathhouse has been upgraded. And the local history museum will celebrate the housewarming, moving to the building of the former library.

On the central square of the district center - Lenin Square - sidewalk slabs, light supports were replaced, additional parking spaces were equipped. A new look and the square near the railway station. On different streets, new elements organically blended into the urban environment - flower beds, small architectural forms, benches and gazebos. Some of them became a kind of gift to the holiday from communal workers of other cities - Mozyr, Rechitsa, Lelchits, Zhitkovich, Khoinikov. The intersection of Frunze and Sovetskaya streets decorated a stylized globe with cornflowers and pigeons, which all over the world symbolize peace and harmony. It is easy to predict that in the near future the art object will become a landmark, recognizable by the numerous pictures of guests and residents of the city in social networks.

A worthy investment in landscaping Kalinkovich was the breakdown of new alleys. Several hundred ornamental trees and shrubs have been planted, including nearly 250 catalps, which are especially prized in landscape design for their large heart-shaped leaves and lush flowering. To arrange walking areas - just a godsend!

The improvement did not bypass small settlements. Order has been restored at the facilities of agricultural enterprises, the streets of agrotowns have become prettier – the emphasis is on the aesthetic appearance of the streets, improving the road network and maintaining cleanliness at public facilities.

In general, everything is ready for the holiday, and it is completely deserved by the conscientious work of both participants and organizers.

The program of the festival-fair "Dazhynki-2026" was presented at a briefing in the Gomel Regional Executive Committee. Festive events will begin at ten in the morning and last until the evening. The main venue will be Lenin Square. On the main stage, located on the square, dozens of creative teams will perform. Neighboring locations are assigned to work food courts and trade facilities, exhibitions of agricultural machinery and farmsteads participating in the competitive program. In addition to traditional culture, they will present the economic potential and all areas of life of each region.

- In an updated format, the procession of labor collectives will also take place, said the head of the main department of culture of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee Inga Zavgorodnaya. Participants received technical assignments in advance, aimed at showing some highlights that personify their region. Thanks to this concept, the delegations will differ from each other, and the procession itself will become a bright element of the overall picture of the festival.

The climax – honoring the workers of the fields, the most distinguished during the harvesting campaign – will begin at 13:00 on the big stage. The concert accompanying the award ceremony will be attended by more than four hundred artists. The final chord will be the already beloved audience performance of “CoverhorShow” and colorful fireworks.

- Very soon in our city will be held the festival-fair "Dazhynki" - a traditional holiday, where we will honor the workers of the village. All those who, with love and dedication, spare no effort, work in fields, farms, grain-drying complexes, those thanks to whom bread and other products are always on our tables, and rural areas continue to develop. Their work requires maximum dedication, and its result becomes the basis of food security of the state and the well-being of people.

This year, the festival, which we are waiting for guests from all over the Gomel region, fell to Kalinkovich. It is a great honor for all of us and at the same time a great responsibility for the result – for what our common holiday will be. In order for it to become bright, memorable and passed at the highest level, a colossal work has been done. Kalinkovichi blossomed, prettier, our city has become even more modern, well-organized, comfortable and at the same time homely cozy.

According to the already established tradition, a competition of compositions from straw bales became part of the festival. Such art objects are in some ways visiting cards of the districts that are built along the roads at the entrance to the city. Fairy castles, mills, combine harvesters and tractors, storks and giant caravans, pictures from the depths of rural life - an abundance of plots, creativity and imagination of the authors please the eye. The winners of the contest will be determined by online voting.

Meanwhile, at the entrance to Kalinkovichi on the west side there is a permanent sign - the name of the city, laid out in natural stone.
