A month Lipetsk doctors fought for the life of a woman with West Nile fever

In the Lipetsk regional infectious diseases hospital for a month was a patient with a rare disease. The 62-year-old woman entered the unit in early September with extreme heat, chills and digestive problems. She's been sick for a week. Doctors determined she had West Nile fever, the first case in the region since 2019.

The woman became worse and she was transferred to intensive care, immersed in a coma and connected to a ventilator. The month of struggle for her life ended successfully: the woman recovered and is already recovering.

West Nile fever is an acute viral disease transmitted to humans through the bites of infected mosquitoes or ticks.
